Atto (pronounced AH-toe) is my and my wife's dog. He was born circa 2017, probably near Daegu, South Korea. We don’t know much about Atto’s early life, but it seems to have been full of adversity.
On Memorial Day in 2019, we adopted him from a Korean animal shelter via a family connection. We picked him up at LAX airport baggage claim and got to know him on our long drive back to Northern California, where we currently live.
We chose Atto's name because another dog at the shelter had it, and we liked it. Some brief internet research suggests it is an archaic Korean word meaning "gift."
Atto is part poodle and is gainfully employed as an Emotional Support Animal. He enjoys chew toys and sweet potatoes. He dislikes baths.
